FEBRUARY 2026 semester
Fundamentals of Sport
and Recreation
Students will learn how sport and recreation organisations are run, including how they’re governed, how money is raised, and how volunteers help. The course covers important topics like ethics, professionalism, and the business side of sports.
Commercial Operations
in Sport
This course focuses on the business side of sports, teaching students how sports organisations raise money through sponsorships, merchandise, and events. Students learn negotiation and sales skills to help grow a sporting organisation financially.
Sport, Health
And Wellbeing
In this course, students will explore how recreation and leisure activities can improve health, wellbeing and quality of life. It covers topics like mental health, active ageing, body image, community programs, and health promotion.
Sport Practicum
(incl. 120 placement hours)
This course provides the opportunity for students to gain practical experience across Adelaide Football Club and partner organisations and begin applying the knowledge and skills developed in courses throughout their program of study.
August 2026 semester
Management, Organisations & leadership
Students will learn how to manage people and teams, understand motivation, decision-making, and how businesses adapt to changes in their environment, including cultural differences.
Marketing
Principles
Students will learn what marketing is and why it’s important for businesses. They will explore how marketing works in different industries, including sports, and how companies use strategies like research and planning to attract customers.
SPORT IN
CONTEMPORARY
SOCIETY
This is a new course designed for students to gain a foundation in how sporting organisations are part of and contribute to society.

KNOWLEDGES
This is a new course that will explore the use of data in organisations and how data insights can support business success.

Courses are taught in-person with online resources at the Adelaide Football Club and Adelaide University's city campuses.

Eligibility
The Diploma in Sport Management is open to Australian Citizens and permanent residents passionate about sport. You might be a recent school leaver, taking a gap year, or just seeking a career change. If you’re ready to get the ball rolling on your sports management career, then this diploma is for you.
No ATAR is required for entry.
Applicants can use ONE of the following to apply:

Secondary education: Successful completion of SACE or equivalent interstate year 12 or international qualification.

Higher education study: Successful completion of a minimum half year of full-time study with a recognised higher education provider.

Vocational Education and Training (VET): Completion of an award from a registered training organisation at Certificate III or above.

Other entry pathways (Work and life experience): Completed a 12-month UniSA Foundation Studies program or equivalent, or qualify for Special Entry.

Fees
The 1-year Diploma will cost $22,000*, with students able to access the FEE-HELP scheme to defer payment.
Students can access the same student loan system as university students, allowing you to study now and repay later through the taxation system. Further information about fees is available on the Australian Government Study Assist website.

*An additional student services fees of approximately $350 per year also applies which gives you access to a range of student support services to set you up for success. This can also be deferred via an SA-HELP loan.
Career Opportunities
Successful graduates from each cohort of the Diploma in Sport Management will have the opportunity to apply for two paid full-time roles with the Adelaide Football Club.
